A fixed-term role working for the West of England Initiative in Business West - a business leadership team which facilitates active, positive engagement of the business community in regional governance. I worked in a policy advisory role focusing on the West of England devolution agreement and 2017 Metro Mayor elections.I was responsible for producing the following pieces of work:A Guide to Devolution, Metro Mayors and the West of England: report outlining and evaluating the West of England devolution deal, and comparing the role of Metro Mayors in city regions across England. The report gives a comparative assessment of the approach taken, the level of responsibility and amount of budgetary control in each city region.A Business Challenge and Manifesto for the West of England Mayor: produced though qualitative research, based around interviews with a variety of business leaders and key stakeholders in the West of England region. These interviews were analysed thematically and transformed into a detailed policy challenge for the incoming Metro Mayor (the Business Challenge). This Business Challenge was then distilled into a 10 point Business Manifesto, aimed at a wider audience and used to highlight the business agenda for devolution in the region.
