Wildacres Retreat is a conference center offering its facilities to non-profit groups conducting educational or cultural programs on topics such as music, art, science, religion, lapidary, craft and writing. It is also available for staff and board retreats for non-profit organizations.At an elevation of 3,300 feet, Wildacres is situated on 1,600 acres atop Pompey's Knob, a mountain near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. In the Spring of 1946, Wildacres Retreat was dedicated "to the betterment of human relations" in hopes that people who visited would learn to live together in harmony. To commemorate the Retreat's achievements upon their 50th anniversary, Wildacres Leadership Initiative was established to broaden its scope of influence on the State of North Carolina and its citizens for the next 50 years and beyond.

Skyland Camp for Girls is an independent camp that has been owned and operated by the women of the same family since 1917. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Skyland has catered to five generations of young women and is honored to share its rich history with future leaders. Offering a wide variety of “traditional” camp activities, campers have extensive opportunities for creative and athletic achievement. Limited to just 65 campers per session, Skyland is committed to the individual camper and the contribution that she can bring to camp life. The Camp Director is responsible for the overall development and administration of the summer camp program. The Camp Director furthers Skyland’s vision, mission, and goals through the development and management of the program, human resources, finance, risk management, and camp operations. This leadership position interacts with others as a professional and collaborative team member to ensure that Skyland’s goals are achieved with consistent excellence and precision.

Responsible for program design and implementation, as well as property development at three year-round camp properties for the Peaks to Piedmont Council. Coordinate the long-range planning property development committee as well as develop and oversee $900,000 plus department budget.

Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program for grades 6th - 8th. Teach LifeSkills classes for all three grades, as well as facilitate individual and small group counseling. Act as a liaison between school, students and families.

Was hired by the co-founders/directors to train as director for TDI so they could step down. Was responsible for logistics and camper supervision. The co-founders decided not to step down, and I was offered and accepted a director level position working with a migrant education camp.

As the Resident Director: Responsible for all operations of the council residential camp for girls aged 5 – 17, located in Hardwick, VT. Increased camp fill ratio from 65% to a consistent 98% through program design and staff development. Completed three successful ACA Standards reviews and served as a Standards Visitor and Standards Review Board member for the NE ACA. Developed and managed the $550,000 camp budget. Worked closely with camp rangers on routine property maintenance and long-range property development.As the VP of Membership: Supervised a statewide membership staff responsible for program planning and implementation, recruiting of girl and adult members, and volunteer management throughout Vermont. Provided Human Resources support for the council in areas of recruitment, benefit administration, payroll, training, staff development and performance evaluations. Assisted CEO in budget forecasting, planning and reconciliation and managed department budgets.

Worked as a Wilderness Therapeutic Counselor with emotionally-disturbed youth ranging in age from 10 -17, in a year-round residential outdoor program. Started as a Counselor/Teacher and was promoted to Senior Counselor. Responsible for groups of 10 -12 youth, working on group dynamics, behavior management, and problem-solving skills through the use of extended camping, backpacking and canoe trips along the East Coast. Led the groups in community service projects a part of their therapy, enabling them to “give back” to their camp community.Worked as the NE Recruiting Coordinator responsible for staffing camps from New Hampshire to North Carolina. Interviewed, hired, and assisted in training staff to work as Counselor/Teachers in the wilderness camps. Managed the six-person NE Recruiting Team.
