In the Spring of 1946, Wildacres Retreat was dedicated "to the betterment of human relations" in hopes that people who visited would learn to live together in harmony. To commemorate the Retreat's achievements upon their 50th anniversary, Wildacres Leadership Initiative was established to broaden its scope of influence on the State of North Carolina and its citizens for the next 50 years and beyond.
