My main interest is to empower others, and myself, in developing, nurturing and applying 21st century skills. I consider boosting Curiosity to be at the core, because it is the engine that powers the other skills. Currently I am applying this interest in projects regarding local and regional development issues, from the energy transition, to housing,m to health, to spatial developments (Platform31). Relevantly for this, I completed a PhD in industrial design engineering (TU Delft) on How to 'design' -products, processes, policies- with scalability in mind. One of the key aspects is to take into account diversity (needs, demands, actors, dynamics, vested interests) much earlier on than is usual practice. I.e. Context Variation by Design. Early focus on one context or target group is tempting but in the end not helpful because it creates lock-ins and encourages (too) limited views on how to address an issue. Neither is helpful to achieve impact at scale.Using professional curiosity to drive the process to take into account scalability considerations from early on to achieve wide societal impact, will improve how we approach all major issues.Check out recent blogs on LinkedIn to get some more idea of how I roll, workwise.
