"Jackie Wright is the president of Wright Enterprises, a full service public relations firm serving the corporate, non-profit and government sectors nationally and internationally. A seasoned media and public relations professional, Wright has 20 years of media experience, including more than a decade of award-winning journalism experience in radio, television, print and Internet communications. She is a filmmaker and graduate of the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism, home of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Awards. Prior to launching her own business, Wright served as Public Affairs Manager for KPIX/CW Bay Area TV, where she was responsible for public relations and community relations that included the creation and establishment of multicultural ethnic heritage month celebrations such as Asian Heritage Month, Black History Month and Latino Heritage Month; Wright created unique public service campaigns in which community leaders of different races would honor each other on air. Wright’s media and community leadership initiated the establishment of the popular weekly national Jefferson Awards on KPIX. Public Relations Manager, CBS 5/CW Bay Area TV, San Francisco -Responsible for FCC reports; Executive Producer for two public affairs shows; community relations; wrote and produced public service announcement; determined sponsorships with community groups; created and managed programs for multicultural ethnic celebration public service campaigns; and created the multicultural community outreach events for Asian Heritage Month, Black History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month that continue to be celebrated by the station. Created community public service announcements featured at the national network level. Work highlighted in CBS Television’s National Social Responsibility Report.

Member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. Responsible for establishing the office for the new Superintendent. Responsibilities included branding, community relations, developing infrastructure for proactive and responsive media coverage for 9-11-2001 Crisis, overall District message development for 7,000 employees at over 150 facilities and 60,000 students. With a staff including an administrative assistant and one other media professional, created systems to respond annually to over 800 media calls, up to 10 news conferences and produced over 300 news releases annually. Developed a strategic community relations and communications plan, media guidelines, crisis communication guidelines, media training for staff, publications, redesigned District website, and managed foreign and political visits. Created media action team prototype to manage media response at sites. Work included oversight and leadership for KALW 91.7 FM resulting in over a 20 percent increase in audience and fund raising for the station. Developed partnerships for television production with Academy of Arts College, SF State and AcceSF (Cable TV). Developed crisis communications training for internal and external professionals such as San Francisco Ready.

Executive Officer (7/94-December 2000), American Red Cross, San Francisco; West Bay Executive Officer (7-93-7-94/San Mateo, San Francisco and Marin Counties); Assisted Chief Executive Officer in community relations, positioning Red Cross as the lead service/human care agency in San Francisco. Ensured good service delivery and that organization reached fund raising goals. Provided leadership for the county board of directors. Managed community, political, corporate, and governmental relationships at a senior level. Served as Acting CEO in the CEO’s absence. Crisis Communication Specialist at times of disaster; National Media Relations for NHQ; Served on the elite on-call Media Action Team requiring national deployment within two hours of notification. Created successful partnership with the San Francisco Fire Department yielding training for 300 fire cadets/Red Cross volunteers. Operated studio camera for Georgia Public Television. Was part of the field team that went off site to film outside the studios working on projects such as the Miss Georgia Pageant, and other television specials.
