I was appointed as Executive Director of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)'s North American office in early 2019. The nonprofit WBCSD is a collaborative platform for innovative and scalable business solutions, aimed at addressing our most pressing social and environmental challenges, and representing the interests, voices, and values of businesses in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Personally, I remain a climate optimist under the belief that business will drive societal change, and am honored to direct this mission-forward organization. Having worked as the Senior Executive Director of Sustainability at United Technologies — with a masters degree in engineering, direct P&L experience, and my last 15 years in leading corporate sustainability initiatives — I understand the pressures businesses operate under to satisfy performance expectations. Bridging experience from my MIT Sloan Fellows MBA, I have experienced first hand, the impact of effective leadership that drives companies forward to help successfully transform their business models and systems. I have also seen companies led by conflicted leaders that are challenged by short term pressures that limit their capacity to act. I have brought both ends of the spectrum together to collaborate and solve issues that have improved their short and long term business horizons.I am determined to guide participating WBCSD organizations and our partners in leveraging the private sector to solve our global problems related to climate impact, social inequality and the degradation of our natural systems. Companies both large and small have a huge stake in addressing these issues, both short and long term, for the sake of their business, customers, employees, and shareholders.Join with me in this journey to help the private sector lead the changes we need.
