From 2014-2016, I lived and worked in Italy, with the President and Founder of Lorenzo de Medici.

Provided strategic leadership in the establishment and growth of the study abroad office. Oversaw all education abroad activity at Eastern Illinois University (policies, procedures, operations, personnel, programming, international agreements, information management, fiscal and budgetary matters, faculty preparation, curriculum integration, risk management, assessment, and development). Key Accomplishments• Developed a cutting-edge articulation database and a program finder to support study abroad advising and curriculum integration. Articulated more than 5000 courses.• Oversaw an expansion of programming that led EIU to consistently rank as the top sending Master’s institution in Illinois.• Added two full-time coordinators, two graduate assistants, several peer advisors, and a cohort of study abroad ambassadors to my team.• Convinced the Council on Academic Affairs to heighten the academic rigor of study abroad by changing it from transfer credit to university credit, with grades and GPA calculation.• Created a Study Abroad Capstone course and linked it to the university-wide plan for assessment of student learning in citizenship, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. • Convinced the Council on Academic Affairs to make this study abroad capstone course (with a prerequisite of study abroad), an optional replacement for the senior seminar requirement of the undergraduate curriculum.• Secured over $100,000 in student scholarships and faculty development grants.

Promoted study abroad opportunities across the campus, advised students from pre-departure to re-entry, managed student files and information, served as the primary contact for students abroad, oversaw a significant scholarship and grant selection process, organized various orientations and events, conducted credit evaluations for all returning students, implemented and managed a student database, developed programs around the world, and supervised a data tech and assistant.

Developed various procedures that shaped the newly funded program, wrote and designed various program materials (including student and faculty handbooks), implemented marketing strategies across campus, recruited students and faculty mentors for students, advised students on research projects and graduate study plans, conducted orientations and workshops for students and faculty mentors, and supervised a full-time administrative assistant and graduate assistant.

Sought out a variety of practical experience while pursuing a Master of Arts. Held positions in the areas of Study Abroad, Multicultural Affairs, and Judicial Affairs.

Developed various challenge education programs in a public youth hostel, taught English language and self-defense to “at risk” students, organized workshops for “at risk” families, assisted with investigations to determine if runaway or abandoned youth should be reunited with family, launched health education programs for schools in and around the indigenous community of Zuleta, managed to completion a community project to open a public health center.

Launched a variety of health education programs for schools and churches, assisted with a project to build a new public health center, trained select community members in health prevention leadership, conducted vaccination campaigns with trained leaders in surrounding villages, formed the United Women’s Group with community members and assisted them in launching small business ventures utilizing sustainable development techniques.
