Aside from dealing in Foreign Exchange, Money Market, and other structured treasury products in serving the bank’s corporate clients, I have also been actively looking for new clients to expand the bank's customer base. My clients would receive consistent updates on the latest news, trends and expected movements in FX and interest rates as well as advice on hedging strategies based on their expectations and funding structures. In addition to client-related operations, I have also been involved in data processing and analysis mainly for the preparation of reports to be used for internal reviews and to fulfil regulatory requirements.

The 3-month internship provided an exposure to aspects related to town planning and community development. On top of being able to visit residents of Subang Jaya and obtain their feedback on state-related developments and issues, I also attended meetings on welfare program, wastes management, road building, etc. It was great experience to be exposed to the decision-making processes in the government.

Throughout the 14-week internship at HSBC’s GPU-Accounts Payable, I have handled the department's e-mail account, mainly involved in the handling of queries, i.e., payment status, staff reimbursement procedure, valid tax invoice criteria, etc. I was also responsible for the recordkeeping and reconciliation of documents alongside the fulfilment of certain audit requirements. In addition, I was involved in processing and consolidating payment/expense data using Excel.
