I investigated the mechanical impact of confined electromagnetic fields on molecules and chemical reactions, in the process of doing so, I developed molecular nano tweezers capable of trapping proteins and nanoscale objects. I also proposed and demonstrated optomechanical chemistry. My work in Professor Erickson's Lab included:- Modeling of nanophotonic electromagnetic fields (FDTD, FEM, analytical approaches)- Development and troubleshooting of a fabrication process for silicon and silicon nitride chips at the Cornell Nanoscale Facility clean room (E beam lithography, Reactive Ion Etch, thin film deposition)- Theoretical modeling of optomechanically driven chemical reactions and molecular transport near electromagnetic hotspots.- Experimental benchwork: Microfluidic channels (PDMS and syringe microlfuidics), Class IV lasers (1550 and 1064 nm diode lasers), Fluorescence microscopy (Lab View automation).- Developed a microscope image data mining algorithm to process the images acquired during the experiments- Contributed to 9 research articles, 300+ citations, and contributed to to 10+ conference presentations.Grading:- I graded for Prof. Muller's class Nano-characterization AEP 6610 (graduate level class)Minor:I minored in Mathematics with Prof. Muscalu as a committee member.
