As a sophomore in college, I began my experience in the business field, participating as a Work-Study student for two summers through TRIO Upward Bound at Tarrant County Human Services: Resource Connection. At Resource Connections, I received the experience that I needed to learn so, I could gain the necessary skills needed in business management. Consistently listening to the orders I was given while asking questions to make sure I gained a good understanding of the given tasks began to open my mind as I witnessed my growth. In the past, I wouldn't have asked questions nor listened as much to gain the understanding I needed. Now employed as a student worker for Bauer College of Business at the Dean’s Office, I’m able to utilize the skills I gained, along with my intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. I also discovered a trait with me finding joy in helping people and being of assistance the best way I can during my time at Bauer, which has helped me understand myself better. Though I may lack experience, my skills and traits alone push me to overcome any obstacle and take the necessary charge to lead the way for not just myself, but for others who lack job experience but have strong skills to overshadow it.
