As a graduate student majoring in biochemistry, my research focuses on mechanisms of DNA-protein cross-link (DPC) formation and repair. I have reconstituted the repair of DPCs using a chemically synthesized DPC substrate and discovered and characterized three nucleases that removed DPCs in vitro through biochemical assays. I also developed a novel liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry workflow to determine the cross-linking chemistry of DPCs. After graduation, I would like to apply my skills and knowledge into solving critical issues in the pharmaceutical industry.
