Led the coordination and implementation as project manager of the ALARM MANAGEMENT program throughout the coal and gas fleet.- Chosen as project lead to reduce the amount of nuisance alarms received in the control room and redesigning the alarm system to increase its usability and reduce the risk of a vital alarm not being acknowledged by a unit operator during a plant upset or unusual condition.- Worked on-site 6-8 weeks, per site, interfacing directly with plant managers and engineers throughout the Documentation & Rationalization (D&R) process, in which each alarm in the system is analyzed to ensure its usefulness and effectiveness, and identifying “bad actor” alarms.- Performed alarm rationalization and control redesign at 10 of TVA’s coal and combined cycle plants, leading the industry in concept implementation. Implemented changes significantly reduced the amount of alarms received by the operator on a single day by up to 75%.
