    The main focus of this position was reporting on a portfolio of social interventions (programme) designed for the empowerment of women and gender equality, resource mobilization and programme development. In this position I contributed to the design of a 5-year programme for the survivors of violence against women which integrated the four areas of protection, prevention, economic empowerment and access to justice through rule of law and an enabling policy environment. I supervised the preparation of the donor reports and guided the programme teams in developing detailed workplans with components of procurement, recruitment, monitoring and reporting, communication and advocacy. This required instituting new monitoring practices to enhance reporting.

    The Pacific Sub-Regional Multi-Country Office (MCO) of UN Women covers 14 Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs). This was a retainer-based consultancy for the MCO with various services provided online and on-site. The main deliverable was online support, coordination and guidance for the development of the 4-year programme for the MCO, ensuring the linkage with the Development Assistance Framework of the UN in the Pacific and UN Women's corporate Strategic Plan. It was complemented with a series of consultations to design new templates and tools for results-based monitoring, annual budget planning and managing the implementation of the programme in each PICT linked to the sub-regional programme. In addition to facilitating the 2014 MCO retreat and conducting on-site training sessions, further online training and mentoring for specific positions on the business processes e.g. monitoring, planning, etc. was also provided.

    The UNDP-GEF/SGP is one of UNDP's dynamic programmes in Iran that addresses environmental concerns by implementing small grants projects through the CSOs and local communities. As the second member of this team, I joined during the early stages of its inception which was a crucial period for establishing systems, defining processes, networking and forging trust among a variety of stakeholders, and developing capacities of the NGOs and CBOs. This position had a hands-on approach and close ties with the grass-roots level and NGOs as the main partners of GEF/SGP. It ranged from various functions related to a programme life cycle to training grantees, developing advocacy material, preparing Agreements and MOUs, financial monitoring, administrative duties, etc. At the time of my departure, we had built from scratch a portfolio of 67 Full Grant Projects funded by GEF with US$1.7 million and co-funded by national and international stakeholder organizations for US$19.8 million cash and in kind co-funding.
