Manage the governance processes, includes working with the Legal, Risk and Compliance department to understand and practically apply legislation and laws impacting the Business Unit and updates and/or implements processes, policies and procedures within the Business Unit to ensure compliance. Develop initiatives to assist, train and upskill the Business Unit's Management Team to ensure general risk and compliance awareness and empower them to understand, support and effectively implement and adhere to risk and compliance solutions. Engage with both internal and external audit to ensure business has one central point of contact in respect of all audit; this process requires understanding of the audit engagement, scope and findings.

Compilation of monthly reconciliations of all operational losses, testing and assessment of controls, updating and implementation of Business Continuity measure, approval of operational losses, identifying and classification of losses per Basel categories.

The role held, due to WesBank strategy, was 3 fold : Deals sent for credit submission below my discretionary limit of R 1 000 000.00 to be assessed and signed off or recommendation to be made based on analysis. The FAIS Supervisory role was vast; monitor marketers daily, compile daily reports on all findings, coach & train marketers, liaise with the Key Individual & Compliance officer and do quality of lending checks on deals done, ensuring quality controls are being met.
