My career in regional newspaper advertising started at the Manchester Evening News, which at the time was the UKs largest circulating regional newspaper. I joined as a classified advertising receptionist which involved taking incoming classified advertising orders, selling up of course. Those were the days of manual typewriters, conveyor belts and production that was more reliant of manual dexterity than computers. My time with regional newspapers saw me work for the leading groups of the day progressing through to running advertisement departments with over 60 staff and budgets of £40 million. I left the corporate world in 2000 to take my skills and create something of my own. I launched a media buying company later that year and over the next decade bought print and broadcast media for our clients. I also provided consultancy services to Midlands Asian Television enabling them to increase their advertising revenue. After I left the world of media sales I joined my wife's PR, Social Media and events company where we were specialists in the nursery trade working with clients in the UK, Europe and the Far East.I have always had diverse interests and became a fashion designer in 2010 and presented my vision despite having no formal training. I exhibited at London and Paris Fashion Weeks and was featured in publications such as Vogue (United Kingdom and Italia), Dazed and Confused and The Metro. I presented several innovations and was stocked in Harrods after presenting my collections to Marigay McKee, their legendary Fashion and Beauty Director.
