- Integrated Juniper network equipment into existing Cisco networks as part of the Air Force's Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI) project- Upgraded the Critical Base Area Network (BAN) using Juniper EX series switches to replace critical core, distribution, and select access level switches- As site lead on every base, worked with on-site contractors, USAF personnel, and government project management officers (PMOs) to schedule Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) and coordinate resources for network cutovers- Installed network equipment in parallel before cutting over access nodes (ANs) in order to minimize downtime- Performed advanced troubleshooting of network layer 2 and layer 3 issues afterwards in order to ensure successful integration and compatibility with customer applications and systems- Performed failover testing to ensure redundant systems (power, routing protocols, first-hop redundancy protocols, links) worked as designed and within specified parameters

Directs and supervises a team of dedicated network professionals in order to achieve the daily on-going mission of providing reliable secure and non-secure network access to Rock Island Arsenal. Works with network management suites such as Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM), CA Spectrum, and Cisco Prime in order to ensure that network availability, bandwidth utilization, and available system resources fall within the required parameters per the enterprise Service Level Agreement (SLA). Uses the BMC Remedy software suite in order to monitor ticket queues, assign tickets, and ensure that tickets are being resolved in a timely manner. Documents processes, writes whitepapers and tutorials, and provides feedback to management regarding hardware, software, and licensing requirements for future projects and network expansion efforts. Teaches and mentors intermediate and junior network engineers and ensures that they have the required training, reference material, vendor support, and software and hardware tools in order to accomplish the mission.

As a Department of the Army (DA) civilian:Responsible for managing, securing, and designing network solutions for an Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN) consisting of over 300 end-user sites interconnected by multiple distribution nodes and a ten-gigabit Ethernet backbone. Worked with multiple technologies from an array of different vendors in order to achieve the daily on-going mission; technologies include multi-layer switching, routing, Quality of Service (QoS),WAN management (administering T1, DS3, and DSL circuits), enterprise WiFi, centralized authentication and authorization (RADIUS, IAS, TACACS+), DHCP, and IPSec VPN. Interacts with customers and clients daily in order to provide technical support and resolve incidents through a ticket-based system. Coordinates with upper echelons for trouble ticket escalation and implementation of network compliance directives. Creates and updates device baseline configurations in order to establish a consistent network-wide security posture and streamline new device deployments. Teaches, trains, and mentors junior technicians and assigns and prioritizes tasks and projects in order to maintain a smooth, consistent, and highly available network.

Network Team Lead for the JBER-Richardson Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN)Duties included:- Configuring, installing, monitoring, upgrading, and providing troubleshooting for network devices throughout the JBER-Richardson Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN).- Ensuring the constant operation of Area Distribution Nodes (ADNs) and Main Connection Nodes (MCNs) which provided both low and high-security network connections to JBER-Richardson end-user buildings.- Working to improve processes for network device installations, trouble ticket tracking, and network traffic monitoring and security.- Teaching, training, mentoring, and ensuring the safety and well-being of junior network technicians assigned to the JBER-Richardson Installation Processing Node (IPN). Directed and supervised the completion of tasks and projects assigned from plans department.- Asset management: accounted for networking equipment spread throughout the entire JBER-Richardson area, including active Controlled Cryptographic Items. Responsible for inventorying and managing the lifecycle of equipment and ensuring no losses or serious incidents occur.
