A partnership with TropWATER (JCU) and North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) initiated a project to analyse existing information for the ports of Mackay and Hay Point in North Queensland. The assessment of environmental report card techniques that occur globally alongside the existing environmental monitoring data for seagrass, coral reefs, and water quality are considered in this project. This project was presented at the Australasian Coasts and Ports Conference in Cairns, June 2017. This project looks to asses the trends and status of sharks and rays across the Pacific Islands through collating data from citizen scientists and partnerships with in-country researchers. The project was conceived and is managed by Dr. Andrew Chin, a post-doc at James Cook University. This position involves organising incoming data from contributors and representing the information through web design and management on the Wix platform.Through this project, I was given the opportunity to undergo a research assessment on the trends and status of elasmobranchs in Fiji, which will be a part of a series of papers published through SSIP.

Part of a team that made contact with prospective JCU students to assist them in their acceptance process and to answer any questions they had about academic life at JCU. This position also involved data management and primarily used Microsoft Excel in organising information.Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills were honed through this position.

Leader of the team that organised Townsville's inaugural session of the largest international science festival: Pint of Science. This was the fourth year that it ran in Australia and the most successful year so far in spreading scientific knowledge to the general public. Themes that we ran included 'Planet Earth' as well as 'Our Body', where the public found out more about plastics, lizards, mental health, and barotrauma in a comfortable, relaxed setting of the pub. Duties included team management, coordinating and communicating with speakers and hosts, as well as communicating with Australia country directors for the festival.

This position initially involved gaining experience working in a busy dive centre in Dubai. After the instructor course, experience was gained in teaching people how to dive in Dubai and Fujeirah. The role was very fast paced, involving involving flexibility in changing conditions, as well as meticulous planning to ensure the operation ran smoothly. Currently an independent instructor with The Dive Centre and is now a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT).

This role involved the management of the hawksbill turtle nesting and hatching season in the UAE. Primarily, this required the coordination of volunteers to assist with the project, as well as the marking and protection of nests, and collecting and managing the data associated with the turtle nesting in Dubai and Sir Bu Nair.
