Green belt project as part of industry-university dissertation. Certified green belt by Rolls-Royce Plc. Used appropriate root cause analysis using DMAIC and 8D problem solving tools. Able to identify and isolate bottle neck causing surface texture measurement problems and thermal barrier coating rejection. Analysed and implemented changed to isolated bottlenecks in order to improve the surface texture and reduce rejection rate. Key problem areas improved were shot peening, wax assembly, and shell cell. Project resulted in procurement and installation on new vibration surface finishing machine. All improvements made were controlled and monitored and resulted in a a sustainable surface texture improvement and a scrap reduction of 82%.

Based in the central measurement team, accountable for improving the surface texture validation control for the company globally. Using the company procedures and academia, all surface texture and related standards were re-written and re-issued to reflect the current technology and validation procedures. A product wide gold standard round robin full MSA (Measurement System Analysis) ensured all surface texture measurement equipment were evaluated against all kinds of surface manufactured, saving 42% time and money spent over current process.
