Dr. Yashira Valentin-Rosas, a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and certified Texas Principal, draws her deep passion and unwavering advocacy for education from her personal journey as a multilingual learner. She began her career as an elementary bilingual science teacher in Puerto Rico and later expanded her teaching role to include English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for grades 9-10 in Texas. During her time as a district-level instructional coach in Dallas, Texas, Yashira played a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of more than 65,000 multilingual learners. Through close collaboration with teachers and district leaders, she championed the adoption of best practices and the implementation of meaningful differentiation strategies to benefit minoritized student populations across subjects, including Math, Science, and Social Studies. Her experience as a district-level instructional coach opened doors for her to take on leadership roles within various ESL departments and corporations. In these positions, her steadfast commitment was centered on nurturing professional development opportunities for educators and overseeing the meaningful implementation of foundational skills curriculums, particularly emphasizing the Science of Reading, with a specific focus on supporting multilingual learners. She has authored various articles, book reviews, and her first self-published literary work, "Un Nuevo Hogar in Puerto Rico: A Story of Belonging," which incorporates and promotes translanguaging skills. Yashira also takes pride in her role as the founder of Rooster Solutions Group, LLC, a thriving educational consulting and advisory organization. Her journey in K-12 education, leadership, and transformative curriculum implementation all underscore her unwavering dedication to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in education. This commitment is firmly rooted in her unwavering belief in the profound transformative power of education for students, particularly those who, like her, come from underrepresented backgrounds.
