Beaufort Associates is a Multidisciplinary Business Consultancy Firm in Dubai. My work responsibilities include providing diverse range of services to the clients including financial accounting and reporting, project advisory including feasibility studies & business plan, valuations, due diligence studies, and market research & strategy development.

Global Management Challenge is the world’s largest strategy and management competition for university students and young managers. 30,000 participants from more than 30 countries around the world take part in the competition every year.

My responsibilities, in various positions in audit and assurance practice since I started my professional career, include the following:1) Overall planning of audits, conducting initial planning meetings with clients to understand & co-develop expectations and designing audit strategies in consultation with the Engagement Partner, after assessing the underlying audit risk in the light of the assessment of the client’s overall control environment. 2)Obtaining a thorough understanding of the nature of the client’s business, the business and regulatory environment in which it operates, SWOT analysis, identification of critical success factors and key performance indicators, initial overall analytical review, understanding major business processes, analysis and testing of internal controls at the interim and final stages and detailed testing of significant account balances and transactions.3) Application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices in the UK (UKGAAP).4) Review and supervision of the work performed by audit assistants throughout the course of the audit.5) Assisting client with the preparation and presentation of financial statements including significant financial statement disclosures, in the light of the relevant reporting framework and ensuring compliance with all applicable reporting requirements6) Preparation of final audit deliverables – the audit report, the covering letter to the Board of Directors, the Management Letter, reporting packs and other reports and certificates.7) Successfully managed teams of more than six on various engagements8) Introduced tactical and strategic solutions to mitigate control weaknesses identified during the course of audit engagements

•Identifying System weaknesses and giving recommendations to strengthen the overall control framework around procurement•Ensuring that the purchases made are in-line with company’s policy and identifying any deviations•Advising on financial and taxation matters.

Overall planning of audits, organization and participation in initial meetings with clients to understand the expectations and designing audit strategies after assessing the audit risk associated with the client. Including, 1) Delegation of audit works to the staff members according to the level of their knowledge and experience and supervise them to ensure timely and effective completion of the job2) Review of work performed in light of International Financial Reporting Standards, International Standards on Auditing, Corporate Governance Guidelines, Company Law, Income Tax laws, and other relevant rules and regulations.3)Timely preparation of deliverables includes Financial Statements, Management Letters (identifying control weaknesses and recommendations), Business Review Memorandum (BRM) and other deliverables.4) Advisory services to the clients on various accounting, corporate and financial issues.5) Performing staff appraisals for each job, monitoring staff performance and communication of improvement areas.6) Reporting of important issues to the partner and participation in the Focused team coaching and Final audit meetings.
