Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, ESL Teacher, and now, on top of that, Java and PHP developer. Big oof.Hi! How's it going?My name's Yasmim and since I was a young girl I've always been really logical. I remember that during High School my teacher would always compliment my quick thinking.I have always loved dealing with numbers. 1 + 1 = 2, and that's incontestable. And because I love numbers so much, in 2014 I started studying Engineering, and, in 2019, I got my Bachelors Degree. Throughout my studies, I had a logic class, and in order to learn Logic, our Professor taught us do Program using the Programming language Pascal. I loved that class, and later on I realized that I loved that class more than the rest of my classes. All of them. That's why, in 2019, after graduating, I decided I needed some time to think and plan and figure out who I was. And after making this decision, I decided to take a sabbatical year (that ended up turning into 2,5 years, but that's not the point). So, I flew to the USA and did an Exchange Program called au pair, to improve my English and also just think things through. When I returned to Brazil, in December 2021, I knew that Software Development was what would make me the happiest version of myself. That's when I started looking for some Hands-on courses, which I started in July 2022 and finished in December 2022. During the classes I have learned how to program in Java, PHP, CSS, HTML and SQL.Communication, empathy and resilience are soft-skills that I've developed during this journey, and are soft-skills that I use daily. For over a year now I've been working in the tech industry. It started as Quality and Tests Analyst and, just a couple months after I landed a position in the development team, working with PHP. That did not last long though, because a couple months later I was given a new challenge, work with our microservices team, but at the time, there was no team, so I had to overcome all the insecurities and uncertainties. I'm proud to say that I've been doing the job pretty good and am now starting to become a reference within the company.
