WHAT I DO: I help to improve educational opportunities for young people in Israel by bringing experienced teachers and mentors to disadvantaged communities all over the country. Currently, I am working on a unique program for Hotam- Teach First Israel called “Ofek Le’Nihul”. The program, now recruiting for its 2nd cohort, is designed for experienced managers from various fields who have had a successful career and now want to contribute to society and make a truly significant impact on the next generation.Leadership is something that is very meaningful to me. I haven’t always been a leader, but throughout the year I got to see the almost magical way we can use leadership to impact our own lives and the lives of people around us. Now I am leading programs for managers as part of their personal and career development process, so that they, in turn, can help young people become leaders in their own classrooms and communities.ABOUT OFEK LENIHUL: Hotam- Teach First Israel has launched this program to help managers who are interested in making a meaningful career change by entering the educational system and influencing it from within.WHY MANAGERS? Experienced managers have already demonstrated their skills at leading diverse groups and individuals, motivating them to achieve common goals, and encouraging personal development. This is at the heart of education. At Hotam- Teach First Israel, we want to harness those abilities, together with a deep desire to help children achieve their full potential.HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK? It’s a three-year program designed to help managers transition from the business world to education. The candidates are carefully selected and then undergo special training, which includes studying for a teaching certificate and working in the classroom. During this time, they also receive training in school management, building innovative schools, creating education opportunities, and more.
