- Cerevel's head of intellectual property and first in-house IP counsel, responsible for developing and implementing patent, trademark, and trade secret policies and procedures for over a dozen pre-clinical and clinical stage small molecule assets, prior to acquisition of Cerevel by AbbVie in August 2024- Develop and execute Cerevel’s global IP strategy, partnering with scientific, clinical, and commercial teams to protect innovation, defend inventions, and proactively identify competitive threats; identify opportunities for expanding company’s IP position in collaboration with members of various discovery, development, regulatory, and business groups- Advise and influence strategic decisions by senior stakeholders in commercial, clinical, and research groups by incorporating IP strategy into critical program decisions and data generation, with focus on regulatory exclusivities, life cycle management planning, and preparation for defense against early generic entry- Collaborate in the development of brand planning, domestic and international commercial analyses, and competitive positioning through an analysis of market exclusivities afforded through applicable patent and regulatory regimes- Work with license partners and other external strategic parties in connection with development of the global IP strategy; manage active global docket for licensed IP portfolio; manage the budget and use of outside counsel- Anticipate and proactively manage potential threats to patent portfolio, inclusive of strategic expansion of patent estates relative to critical assets by aligning cross-functional stakeholders- Serve as a partner in the review of license agreements and IP-related provisions in various contracts; review proposed publications and presentations for potential impact on IP positioning
