Profile bio

About Ying Lau

It's not easy being green...but I'm working on it!I'm a recent PhD graduate and I find myself drawn to projects that involve sustainable chemistry. My dissertation is on the development of earth abundant catalysts for synthesis of amines, but in the past, I have investigated the use of switchable additives for a greener approach to oil sands mining and new switchable platinum catalysts for water splitting applications. While I often work independently, I enjoy collaborating with others to accomplish large goals. Recently, a team of colleagues and I organized and hosted a career building retreat for women in chemistry that included nearly 100 people from Canada and the US. I am passionate about projects that help enhance equity in the field. As a chemist in the early stages of my career, I am looking forward to connecting with other like-minded professionals and exploring new opportunities.

Listed skills include Nmr Spectroscopy, Chemistry, Lifesciences, Organic Synthesis, and 14 others.
