And you do.But at some point during your previously smooth morning, a conflict erupts between your co-workers/employees. It gets heated. There's shouting. Not only is your mood disrupted, but so is the atmosphere around you. You wonder if or when you might have to step in to resolve this issue when, out of the blue, someone does it for you. Things settle down. One person speaks at a time. There's a compromise, a resolution, a settlement--whatever you want to call it--but the problem disappears. In the summer of 2015, after I had just graduated high school, my brother proposed the idea of co-founding a ginger brew business based on a recipe I'd developed one month prior. Becoming an entrepreneur was the furthest I could go from my comfort zone, so the idea was scary. But it was also new. A challenge. And I enjoyed a challenge. Although I hardly knew what I was getting into, I believed in my ability to figure things out as I went. And I did. Throughout that process, I taught myself web-content writing, brand building, and nurtured an eye for aesthetically pleasing designs. After doing R&D work to ensure product quality, we managed to recruit six local stores to carry our product within the first month of launch.However, we were unable to gain the necessary certification required to bring our product into major grocery stores. A number of complications led to the process being prolonged, during which our out-of-pocket-revenue dried up. The result?We shelved MNML.It's been several years since that business venture. I consider it a failure, but I don't regret it. I believe failures are necessary for individual and professional growth, and I know that when I try again, I'll know what pitfalls to look out for.
