Born and raised in Shanghai, I somehow unusually grew up with a western mindset and enjoy writing stories to help foreigners know more about modern China. I wrote for Global Times, What’s On Weibo and inflight magazines as a freelance writer.

In October 2013 I quit my job and traveled full-time for over two years. I have traveled and volunteered in Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and Canada. I consider long-term solo travel a full-time job. Planning trips takes an incredible amount of time and effort. I feel good about myself for figuring out how to deal with it. This resulted in building confidence in all aspects of my life.Travel solo has taught me what really makes me happy and made me who I am today.
