As a Job Developer I provide services for participants receiving public assistance seeking employment assigned to Supervised Job Search, or Job Club Activities. I facilitate the orientation weekly in three offices and co-facilitate the weekly workshop with the Career Development Specialist I (CDS I). I train and coach on topics such as completing a correct master application, interviewing skills, employment retention and overall employment readiness. We assist the client in preparing a marketable resume and discuss transferable skills and offer labor maket information as it pertains to their employment goal. Working in a team with the CDS I and the Employment Counselors I identify and discuss barriers with participants such as; lack of education, homelessness, learning disabilities, domestic violence, transportation, childcare and criminal records. I make appropriate referrals to our community partners such as the Clean Slate Program, our Social Workers, or the Employment Counselor etc. This connects our participant not only to our colleagues here in Social Services but to out community service providers. Once we screen our participants by preparing them and coaching them we connect them with community employers through our subsidized program "AC HIRE" or through other unsubsidized positions available. As a Job Developer I outreach to the community employers and establish relationships by inviting them for an onsite recruitment. We work closely with our business partners at the One Stop Career Centers and offer job leads to our participants.

In this lead postion. I interviewed applicants applying for public assistance such as ACDC (then Cal Works in 1998) and Food Stamps and Medi-Cal. I completed budgets to determine grants. Case managed the family from application and kept the case until it discontinued (cradle to grave). I also casemanaged the employment part of the case and made sure the client attended the assigned activity. If not a home visit was scheduled and the client was put in non-compliance and then sanctioned monetarily.
