- PhD Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)-Crohn’s Disease, in collaboration between Maastricht University Medical Centre+ (MUMC+) and MAASTRO-CDS group.- Focus on real-world data integration to improve treatment outcomes for IBD patients through the FRESH (Federated Data Driven Decision Support for Crohn’s Disease) project.- Harmonized data across 7 hospital networks using the OMOP Common Data Model at each data station, complementing the FRESH CDM developed for IBD research, and implemented federated learning with Fedr8 across distributed data stations to ensure secure and efficient multi-center data collaboration.- Collaborated with hospitals, including MUMC Maastricht, RadboudUMC, UMC Groningen, Franciscus Vlieland Hospital, Radboud UMC, Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis and Medisch Spectrum Twente, to set up federated data-sharing infrastructure.- Building a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) to aid in personalized treatment decisions for Crohn’s Disease using federated learning.

- Designed and developed a FRESH Common Data Model using a Gitbook for standardized data extraction across multiple centers, enabling both current and future IBD research through minimum and maximum datasets.- Created a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) housed in Notion site, with detailed, written instructions to achieve uniformity of the performance of a specific function for both present and future related clinical studies and Federated Learning. - Applied advanced machine learning techniques and ETL pipelines for data engineering and analysis, utilizing tools such as Apache NiFi, PostgreSQL, and Docker Desktop.- Specialised in Federated learning, Fedr8, Vantage6, and the Personal Health Train framework to ensure data security and privacy while enabling robust inter-hospital data analysis.- Leveraged data engineering and pipeline engineering expertise to extract, transform, and load (ETL) complex healthcare data for multi-center analysis.- Generation of new R2rml mappings for the Knowledge graph in a previous PROton Therapy ReseArch regIsTry (PROTRAIT) Project.- Supervision of Master students, current total 7, for their 6-12 months internships. - Developed and executed Python scripts on a central server to aggregate and analyze results, observing treatment trends of thiopurines and biologicals in first and second-line therapies for IBD Crohn’s Disease.- Contributing to the future of personalized medicine and data-driven clinical decision support in IBD treatment.
