With RAN Tactical Datalinks – Navy Communications and Information WarfareLed a team supporting, training & testing Tactical Data Networks (existing & emerging).In this role, I led the team that innovated the “proof of concept” for a Maritime Regional Interface Control Cell (MRICC), which delivered the first Australian Common Tactical Picture across Naval and Airforce resources. This has been replicated twice since, and is the template for the Landing Helicopter Docks (LHDs) into the future.

With the Directorate of Navy Workforce Mgt - Combat Systems Operator CategoryI developed policy and resource management systems for over 800 Combat Systems Operators (Radar, Sonar and Mine Warfare). In this role, my key achievements were : - Identified and developed the strategy to remediate a critical personnel shortage in Anti-Submarine Air Controllers (ASAC). Implemented the strategy within 18 months to allow every frigate to have unrestricted capacity to deploy with helicopters.- Transformed and implemented the targeted pathway from sailor to officer for Maritime Combat Officer – Tactical Data Links (MCO-TDL). This pathway is the first of its kind in the Australian Defence Force and enables the RAN to have the required senior personnel complementing the newly acquired technologies that are now standard across the Fleet. Six officers have been commissioned, with an additional 10 over the next five years. - Increased workforce effectiveness by redesigning the training program of Combat Systems Operators (CSO). “In classroom” training was restructured into “on the job” training, increasing the effectiveness of the training and allowing RAN to access trained CSO’s 65% faster.

With the Air Warfare Destroyer Capability Implementation – Navy Capability DirectorateI was the Combat System Subject Matter Expert (Aegis) liaising between the project and Navy focusing on resource management planning, education, and general internal awareness.In this role, I utilised my “real world” Aegis Combat System (ACS) experience, to :- successfully Australian-ised the ACS training program to fast-track over 100 sailors; and - be the key influencer in mitigating implementation issues associated with complementary Fleet technologies, amending existing practices where possible.
