My career goal is to scale businesses by implementing the principles of engineering bolstered with nontechnical skills to deliver key outcomes, build world class teams, and show that there are better ways of accomplishing missions.I used to think I wanted to be a lab rat doing R&D my whole life. Turns out I love really complex problems and the strategizing it takes to solve them. Whether solving technical problems by leveraging identification of first principles, interactions, and stakeholders, developing business strategies through value analysis and business trends, or addressing organizational issues by aligning, leading, and facilitating interdisciplinary communitation, my goal is to find for the best value solution. While at Virgin Galactic I have had the opporunity to directly tie engineering and business to create holistic solutions. From developing supplier selection tool kits with a "Money Ball" style philosophy to optimizing a SpaceShip by considering how design influences manufacturing and life cycle value to building frameworks for exterior supplier managment, I have had my hand in the Big Picture of Strategy and Cross-Disciplinary New Product Introduction.Prior to working in aerospace, I lived in the world of materials development for 7 years while at Celanese and later the High-Performance Materials Institute working with Fortune 500s and public institutions like NASA and AFRL. During that time, I developed a fundamental understanding of technologies and the frameworks we use to create them. Additionally, I got to see, touch, and build new materials that are necessary for the future of the aerospace, defense, and space industries.
