Projects:1. Video Conferencing Optimization for Enterprise Network using SDN technology (APIC-EM). I mainly designed and developed a generic overlay service using JAVA on APIC-EM which is a PaaS SDN platform for dynamically and automatically reducing the packet payload redundancy of many-to-many enterprise video conferences to improve bandwidth utilization of the backbone network. It shares a similar idea as multicast, but with a unicast implementation without any manual configuration. The service contains North Bound restful APIs to interact with video-conferencing application such as WebRTC, South Bound telnet connections for pushing the configs and CLIs to Cisco routers and switches and also the implementation of different algorithms such as DFS, binary trees etc. for finding out the network topology and the potential network overlay tree structure. In addition, I wrote nodejs code to automate the invocation of APIC-EM APIs to create video conferencing overlays when users start a many-to-many WebRTC session. Also it required some hack in C++ and v8 engine on ErizoAPI which is a many-to-many video conference holder.2. OpenDayLight SDN controller GBP/PGN backend implementation, demonstrated in Cisco Live Milan 2015. This project is to provide service providers a better capability to manage group based policies on OpenDayLight SDN controller. ACL and Path Selection can be viewed and applied based on users' roles and the service price they want to pay. I designed a Yang model and implemented in JAVA with Google Guava library to dynamically support front-end data and to interact with South Bound APIs as well as the databroker.3. Hacked in Chromium webrtc to live demo the improvement of video quality by applying newly proposed STUN/DISCUSS protocol when users are experiencing a network congestion in IETF 92 Hackathon, Dallas, Texas.Achievements:GBP/PGN project got productizedWon the best demo of IETF 92 Hackathon out of 8 teams.
