About Yvonda A. Bean

Yvonda A. Bean, a “transformational change” leader, is powered with over 20 years of progressive experience in executive leadership within the affordable housing industry. Prior to joining Columbia Housing, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority of the City of Lafayette (LA), where under her leadership, the once U. S. Department Housing & Urban Development (HUD)-supervised Agency experienced transformational change that resulted in more efficient and improved operations, new strategic partnerships, sound fiscal management practices, increased staff capacity, and improved customer satisfaction. Serving as Chief Executive Officer for Columbia Housing, she is charged with administrative oversight, organizational enhancement, implementation and the creation and preservation of affordable housing for families in Richland and Lexington counties; oversees a workforce of 115 employees; administers a $53 Million Annual Budget and manages a housing portfolio of over 6,000 and 16,000 individuals. Her favorite quote is by Andrew Carnegie, "Anything worth having in life is worth working for." It is a philosophy she has adopted—personally and professionally. No stranger to hard work, a product of generational poverty and a 1st generation college graduate, she is extremely passionate about ensuring the disenfranchised have access to information and resources that will facilitate an improved quality of life.
