- Development of Air Traffic Management System software for drones, a UAV avoidance and path planning system for efficient traffic management. Which involved: - Creation of process flow for drone management - Obstacle detection and segregation - Obstacle avoidance and path planning - Path optimisation to ensure that parameters are within drone operating envelope - Real time tracking and broadcasting of each party’s relevant information to all involved parties - UI design and modification for software prototype - System integration with ground control station (Mission Planner) - Out field testing of prototype system - Researched on solutions for navigation and localisation in a GPS denied environment. - 6DoF System, a solution for indoor localization and navigation. With an on-board camera, it analyses active markers/landmarks which outputs the 3D position and orientation of the drone. - 3D Mapping with Kinect scanners, to generate a 3D model of the environment for navigation.- Development of 6DoF System. Which involved: - Integration of NVIDIA Jetson TK1 development board with drone’s avionics - Integration of camera (colour, monochrome, IR) with drone’s avionics - Design and developed algorithms to detect and identify markers to obtain the position and orientation of drone with respect to the marker. Implemented in C++/OpenCV environment. Achieved an accuracy of 10cm at a range of 5m. Validated using Optitrack Motive System. - Created and design the formation of active markers for project- Conducted research on 3D environment reconstruction using Kinect scanners.- Set up and calibration of Optitrack Motive System
