2021 will be nearly ten years working in the geotechnical/foundation engineering trade for me. I formerly worked for AWARD Engineering in Tampa, FL, and moved to The G3 Group in 2016. Throughout the last ten years, I have learned more about the world of engineering than I ever could have hoped for. I am skilled and experience as an AutoCAD draftsman, have performed Standard Penetration Test borings (SPT's), Ground Penetrating Radar surveys (GPR), Floor Elevation Surveys, excavated soil samples by hand auger, dug test pits to expose and analyze embedded foundation characteristics, performed electrical resistivity surveys (ER), performed dual ring infiltrometer tests (DRI), sampled several buildings for asbestos that were scheduled to be demolished, performed mold and moisture surveys as well as air quality sampling to detect the presence of mold spores, and frequently sent asbestos sampling chain of custody forms to the laboratory in Miami (EMSL) to analyze asbestos content in building materials using polarized light microscopy analyses (PLM). I have also monitored many foundation repair projects at residential locations, as a site monitor representing our Professional Engineer. I obtained a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite, as one of my main responsibilities is report production and entering data obtained in the field into our company project catalog. Geotechnical engineering is by far one of the most rewarding and challenging fields that I have ever been a part of professionally, and I hope to continue my career in the geotech/foundation engineering profession for many years to come. There is always something new to learn every day, and that's what makes my company a real joy to be a member of; that uncertainty of what challenges you will face every day is probably the best part of the job. Learning new things and constantly sharpening my knowledge of the industry instead of dreading work is the most fulfilling part of my career.
