Working as a Project Engineer in the Multifamily division of Doster Construction out of the Birmingham Office. Assisted in the development of an apartment complex in Augusta, GA and currently assisting in the development of luxury apartments in Huntsville, AL.

I spent the summer working in the multifamily department of Doster, where I was able to learn many new things and refine my skills. While working on projects in Huntsville, Alabama and Augusta, Georgia, I learned how to collaborate with owners, architects, field superintendents and independent subcontractors to ensure that there was effective communication and see that work was being done effectively and on schedule. I was tasked with gathering quotes from subcontractors, generating and submitting RFIs to architects and subcontractors, reviewing submittals and completing individual takeoffs for jobs. These tasks helped me to refine my communication and organizational skills that I feel are important for an industry professional to possess. I was also able to use my Excel skills to create a spreadsheet that streamlined the process for gathering unit, window and door counts for entire jobsites to save time.

During this summer at PASCO, the goal was to see the other side of the manufacturing process, as I did design the previous summer. I worked in the assembly shop putting together the same things that I helped design the last summer, reading the same engineering drawings I helped generate. This was to help me observe any design flaws or things that could be improved and considered in the future when designing. Not only did I help assemble conveyors, I also packaged and prepared them for shipping nationwide and internationally. I also assisted in the saw and detail areas of the shop, as well as the abrasive blasting and powder coating areas. I was able to contribute to the shop by helping to reorganize large storage areas to better group together parts of the same project and make them more easily accessible at any time.

During my time at PASCO, I collaborated with sales engineers to design and model custom palletizing systems for various companies, utilizing FANUC Robotics. Using 2D drawings in AutoCAD, I was tasked with creating 3D models in SolidWorks, along with the associated part drawings. I produced over 100 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks for assembly in the in-house PASCO shop, based on bills of sale, as well as conforming to specific warehouse and product specifications. I helped complete and release 10+ projects for companies including Cargill Inc., Dow Chemical Co., Quikrete, Gopher Resource, Sonoco Plastics, TCC Materials, Florida Silica Sands and God's Country Harvest. I also was able to use my skills in SolidWorks to streamline the process of changing configurations on certain conveyors to fit in different situations, instead of taking the time to edit the conveyor each time.
