Involved in NetApp E-Series array software design and development. Focused on Volume IO Services components (caching, cache configuration, persistent cache backup, and parity calculation). Noltable Projects:• 64 bit VxWorks: Converted the firmware code to running on 32 bit VxWorks OS to run the 64 bit version. Converted data types that had ambiguous type definition for 32 and 64bit version.• DMA driver: The RAID5 and RAID6 engine calculates the XOR and GFM parity using a DMA controller hardware. Refactored the DMA controller driver code from C to C++ using object oriented design concepts.• Writes Module Tests using the UnitTest++ framework which are run on nightly builds. • Resolved defects found by QA and static code analyzer.

Worked on an NSF funded research project:"Cybercommons for Ecological Forecasting". Collaborated with the CS and Ecology department and built visualization tools using Improvise needed for interactive visual data mining.Managed the Improvise software with project building and management tools. Used SVN to manage the Improvise source code. Used Apache Maven to build the Improvise Software and Apache Archiva as repository manager to store various project related artifacts.

Research & development of a Vehicular Navigation System for Symbian S60 mobile phones. The application acquires GPS data from internal or external gps devices via Bluetooth and acquires GIS Map Data via gprs connection from a Map Server and shows user's current location and performs vehicular navigation with turn by turn voice commands. Developed custom GUI controls for Symbian applications. Some of these are Custom Free Text Search Control, Drop-down Menu, Context Menu, Color Slider, Ticker Control, etc. Developed the map browser part of the Mobile Navigator which downloads and shows map tiles from map server. The map browser supports map zooming, panning and tile caching. Also developed map rotation and automatic route recalculation module.Developed the user settings and preferences module in Mobile Navigator using the Symbian DBMS API. Also developed the Bluetooth GPS connection module for the Navigator using Symbian Bluetooth API.Developed a Mobile Advert Displayer for Symbian S60 phones which runs as a background application, periodically acquires advert images from advert server and shows advert images when a phone call comes. Developed a mobile phone emergency response system called "GPSbadger". A background process runs on the cell phone. In emergency situation, the user can activate the process and send emergency service requests to one of several emergency control center (Police Station. Hospital, Gas Station etc.). The control center is then updated about the user's current location on the GIS map and sends emergency service to the requesting user.Developed the server side of LivTV, a mobile video sharing software. Used java servlets to receive the video files from the J2ME mobile client and extracted a screen shot of the video using java multimedia API.
