Zahra Magdi has a wide range of experience in mountain communities’ development, where she has lived most of her life in mountain regions (i.e., Marib and Sana'a in Yemen and Saint Catherine in Egypt). She has a BSC in Botany and Chemistry from Mansoura University, Egypt, where she started her passion for botany and continued her study in bacteriology and food preservation and quality. She also gained experience in drying & preservation traditional techniques that are used in the mountain orchards.Following her passion for mountain communities and botany, she started her startup (Mountain Rose) in Saint Catherine Mountains, Sinai, Egypt in 2017, where she works with a team of Bedouin community in producing multiple hiking products such as energy bars, trail mixes and other delicious trail foods from the organic production of Bedouin orchards using the ancient traditional sun drying techniques for drying fruits and nuts.
