Mountain Rose- زهرة الجبل

Our initiative Mountain Rose was founded in St Katherine in 2017, in the heart of the Sinai high mountains. We grew in these mountains, just like the fruit that forms the basis of our trail superfoods. The idea behind Mountain Rose is simple: we use produce from Bedouin orchards in the Sinai to create energy bars, trail mixes and other delicious trail foods, creating jobs for the local community and helping to keep the ancient traditions and livelihoods of the region alive. We aim to participate in reviving of this ancient network of orchards and saving endangered cultural heritage of the high mountains of the Sinai. These orchards have a history going back to Byzantine times. Today, the local Bedouin tribe still keeps some of the orchards, but many have fallen into a state of ruin. Once, around 400 orchards were active in the high mountains of the Sinai; today, it is thought this number is just 40. Mountain Rose is helping the orchards.
