Primary responsibility was to be the creative force of the company and steer the strategy toward building a national brand. I convinced venues to run our events, pitched to sponsors, and marketed events to the public. I managed the event operations, including venue production, venue management, sales and customer service.

Fire. Ice. Barrier walls. No, we weren’t on our way to Mordor, we just wanted to bring people together to challenge each other and have fun while doing so. So, my partners and I collaborated with a group of military veterans to help us design “The Mud Rush” event, a seven km obstacle run. Participants paid us to face 30-foot stacks of hay, water bodies, barrier walls, 100 ft. stretches of tires, 45-degree hills, fire, ice, and, of course, a whole lot of mud followed by a sundowner party. I managed the operations of the event, including creating the sales channels, marketing the event, building partnerships, selling tickets, customer service, logistics, and the complete flow of the event. I also assisted our technical team to design “The Mud Rush” course.

First engineering trainee in Mahindra to be offered a position in a creative client-facing role in B2B sales. I was responsible for direct B2B sales volume growth across the territory, and for B2B sales across 9 dealerships in 5 cities, for our range of 23 vehicles. As key account manager, I led lead generation, contract negotiation, coordination with manufacturing and customization teams, vehicle delivery and service. At each dealership, I hired and trained sales staff, visited clients with them, provided strategic inputs, reviewed sales leads and audited them on a monthly basis. Led a team that generated sales worth $4bn in FY12.

I was assigned a project – to upgrade the technical skills of our 87 strong sales force in Mumbai. This was my first job, and I had no background in sales. I surveyed customers to understand their needs, and used insights to design a module to train the sales team. This module was replicated across the country. The skills I developed enabled me to become the Subject Matter Expert for a pilot project to create virtual dealerships with technological and network support from CISCO.

I worked with my supervising engineer and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on a project to improve the strength of the weld joints in the steering chamber of the cryogenic engine. I compiled a report to ISRO with an analysis of experiments we conducted including recommendations, which were implemented on the final design.
