Design and development of SF₆-insulated high-voltage circuit switchers and operating mechanisms.Responsibilities:• Design new products from concept to production release• Create 3D CAD models and detailed part / assembly drawings in Solidworks• Maintain project scheduling and planning• Perform mechanical and dielectric FEA in Solidworks Simulation and Flux2d• Build prototypes for testing• Perform design tests per IEEE and IEC standards at laboratories in USA, Canada, and South Korea• Lead cost reduction and redesign projects• Work directly with vendors to increase part manufacturability• Troubleshoot issues with products in production• Design tooling and fixtures to increase product quality and production productivity• Write design test reports, production assembly instructions, and customer instruction manuals• Support marketing department and customers with technical questions• Travel to customer location to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems• Provide Solidworks and engineering process training for team membersProject highlights:• Designed new operating mechanism (CAPM) for the 15.5 / 27 / 38 kV CapSwitcher product lines.• Designed new 15.5 / 38 kV Tertiary RLSwitcher (RLS38T), a circuit-switcher that is specifically designed for transformer tertiary connected shunt reactors.
