A meeting of my two areas of professional expertise: writing and technology. I help groups looking to start or revamp technology projects ensure that they're building the best product they can: on the implementation level, the process level, and even the market fit level. Think of me as a bit of product manager, software architect, and technical writer all rolled into one.

Part of the team responsible for turning an older, tangled data reporting and analytics product into a modern, stable, usable application. My work focused on implementing React UI components and layouts, though I also put considerable time in as a product owner when our remote team didn't have local product representation. I've also been responsible for organizing team backlogs, implementing and educating the team on infrastructural updates, and providing maintenance on our previous reporting product (can't exactly delete something that governments rely on, after all).

I was brought on to a dedicated UI development team with the mission of rebuilding the entire application's UI from the ground up. That meant lots of research, prototyping, negotiation, figuring out all of the important details that'll have an impact on Marketo's tech stack for years to come. And, naturally, building the whole thing.Along with the technical task, we've worked to bring a more streamlined process to development within the company. That's involved lots of organizational and documentation work that I've taken on, leaving me as a sort of product manager within the team—managing task backlogs, debating features with UX and higher-ups, and providing resources for onboarding additional teams and developers.

Working on Secret Codenamed Projects, I helped the team determine the viability of NodeJS and NoSQL for server-layer implementation, as well as AngularJS for client-layer. We went with Angular, so I became chiefly responsible for training engineers in using the framework, merging existing experiences with The Angular Way. With the Front End Dev job title, I also became responsible for defining UX patterns and visual style, along with the associated Grunt tooling and reference site maintenance. But, despite the title, I still put in my fair share of C# web service construction to keep feature development moving.

Transfer Online had an urgent deadline - to put together an API that would connect an investment platform they maintain with the platform in development for the UN Global Compact. From scratch. In two months. I was tasked with designing and implementing the API in .NET MVC, and coordinating with a remote peer developer to ensure the demo went without a hitch. And it did, with time to spare.

When I arrived, there were more projects than staff. I helped the team not only catch up, but release ahead of schedule multiple times. I took up a leadership role among the developers, advising my coworkers and acting as the dev team representative in client meetings and sales team training. I also led the charge to bring in new technologies and processes to the company, including Yeoman and Grunt.Major projects include: developed custom-built hybrid iPad app using AngularJS/Ionic; built an all-new company website using HTML5/jQuery/Bootstrap; converted previous back-office website to use mobile-friendly responsive design; designed and prototyped MVC-based architecture specification for internal office management toolkit.

As part of the .Net team, I helped maintain and build several product metric reports (both SSRS and C# MVC/jQuery web-based). I was also responsible for testing and bugfixing the many T-SQL stored procedures that back these reports. As our team had members at an outside firm, I had to coordinate simultaneously with local and remote teammates. Our team was also the guinea pig for the IT department's migration to Agile processes, allowing me practical exposure to several Agile and related processes.Major projects included: a redesign of the reporting dashboard, turning it into an AJAX-driven application; a sales quoting tool using an AngularJS/Bootstrap front end and WCF web service backend; rebuilding the interface on the customer service platform to speed up data interactions; the "test" team for the department's Agile process migration.

After starting off with the company's grunt work (SSIS script maintenance, data management), I moved to doing usability and functionality tests for the company's BrandEnsemble product, using Selenium and Firebug. Soon, I was helping to develop new C# and jQuery controls for the platform, along with building automation tools to speed up work for the rest of the team.

I was brought in to help the company's sales department build up an improved online presence. On top of basic web content improvements, I helped them roll out a PHP e-commerce site and trained their staff to keep the system running and improving. In addition, I helped the Operations staff organize their tasks by converting a fragile Excel-based system to a PHP intranet application.
