I steward the statewide database of Georgia Conservation Lands, built and maintain parcel database of GA DNR fee lands, and produce maps and data visuals as requested.

I am building a web mapping application for the Maureen & Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana. This web application will display alumni from across the globe in order to better communicate their myriad impacts. After completion, I will help train alumni to update the application for the addition of future alumni and past alumni modification.

As a Conservation Connect Fellow, I built a story map to convey the history of the Clearwater Basin Collaborative. I also assisted with meeting preparation and note-taking, as requested.

I and one other Teaching Assistant assisted the Academic Director in a 5-week U.S. State Department Cultural Exchange program titled the Study of US Institutes (SUSI). This particular program focused on global environmental issues. Throughout the 5 weeks, I was responsible for orienting 4 students each from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and Japan for a total of 20 students to the University of Montana and the greater Missoula area. We were responsbilbe for answering any and all questions students had about life in in the United States and more specifically Missoula, MT. We were also responsible for helping clarify any information students received in their various academic sessions. Finally, we accompanied them on two Montana study tours and one 9-day domestic study tour to San Antonio, Texas and Washington D.C.

I assisted Dr. Neva Hassanein with a lower-division undergraduate environmental studies course. I was responsible for assisting the professor with leading student discussions, grading student research papers and exams, providing feedback to help students improve academically, generating exam/quiz questions, and keeping track of student attendance.

Over a three month stretch, I worked with the Bureau of Reclamation out of their Rapid City, SD field office. The experience gave me new perspective of how a lesser thought of agency manages its land and water resources. During this short time, I was responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the Belle Fourche Reservoir. This included keeping track of the number of campers through observation and traffic data, performing routine campground maintenance, and directing Montana Conservation Corps Youth Crews in projects around the property. In addition to providing on the ground support for various projects, I had the opportunity to spend time with Natural Resource Specialists, an Archaeologist, and a GIS Technician in order to understand the various perspectives influencing management practices at various reservoirs.

Old Town Outfitters is a small outdoor clothing, gear and accessories store. The Retail Associate is responsible for having product knowledge and creating a comfortable shopping experience for patrons. Since Old Town Outfitters is a small operation, personability is important and influential when explaining differences between similar merchandise. The Retail Sales Associate is also responsible for opening/closing the store, taking special orders, balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift, and restocking items as needed.

My work for Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) primarily focused on park visitor and volunteer services. During the season, I conducted park patrol, wrote interpretive messages, collected park visitor data, administered surveys, presented educational programs, led volunteer work projects, and staffed special events. I led hikes for a variety of ages, including elementary school classes, cub scouts, and seniors. In addition, I helped create and facilitate tours of flood-damaged properties. I also conducted informal interpretation at various open space properties. This included hiking open space trails and staffing informal trailhead displays to share information about respective properties (e.g., flora/fauna, upcoming events, rules & regulations). While at the office, I researched and wrote articles for the department's quarterly publication, Images. In addition, I collected and wrote material for and designed one interpretive panel about Emerald ash borer and the potential impact to Boulder County. Lastly, two other seasonal employees and I collaborated on a large mobile interpretive exhibit about coyotes in 2014 and mountain lions in 2015. These exhibits acted as our liaison at festivals to share information about coyote and mountain lion behavior, biology, and how to reduce human-wildlife conflict. I spent a quarter of my summer preparing and leading volunteer work projects. These included prescribed burn preparation, trail restoration/construction, native seed collection, fence construction, and post-flood debris removal. The projects consistently varied in size, participants' ages and skill levels. From large 100+ corporate groups to small 10-15 person Eagle Scout troops, I oversaw a wide range of people perform a wide array of tasks.

As part of a field crew, we completed various conservation projects throughout eastern Montana, northern Wyoming, and the western Dakotas. I helped construct new trail in order to connect the Palisades Trail in Red Lodge, MT, staffed the Clark Days celebration at Pompey's Pillar National Monument, dusted prairie dog colonies for Sylvatic Plague on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, sprayed noxious weeds at Badlands National Park, and through the education component of MCC, learned about stewardship of public lands. During all of these 8- 10 day projects, I lived and worked with people from diverse backgrounds. We were responsible for formulating a group shopping list each project, delegating daily camp chores, and all in all, creating an atmosphere where conflict was almost non-existent. We also cleaned, maintained, and organized crew "rig" before and after each hitch. All of this required us to work closely as a unit in order to more effectively and efficiently accomplish project goals. Safety was paramount during my MCC experience. We facilitated this philosophy through holding a safety circle before each work day so we could better anticipate potential hazards. It was also stressed to use proper safety equipment (e.g., hard hat, gloves, and protective eyewear), and correctly and safely use hand tools (e.g., pick mattocks, McLeods, single/double bit sledge hammers, rock bars, loppers, etc). We also safely operated chainsaws and weed whips on a few hitches and were responsible for basic saw maintenance (e.g., cleaning after each use, checking for bar oil and gas, sharpening chain and bar, etc.) Education was an important component of the MCC experience, and through the this component I explored and researched numerous ideas surrounding resource conservation and the problems that plague them. This independent research was to provide supplemental information and help to facilitate organized group discussion(s).

I was a Research Assistant under the direction of Dr. Adam S. Goodie, and through this experience conducted various administartive tasks, facilitated participant's involvement in the study modules and performed data evaluation/entry. When no participant was scheduled, I conducted various administrative tasks. I routinely performed callbacks, screened participants for qualification, and if qualified, arranged a time for them to come and participate. During my facilitation of the study, I briefed participants about the study's aims and made sure all consent forms were properly filled out. I guided the participant through the study, and if necessary, answered any and all questions about the different modules/exercises. Upon completion of the study, I debriefed the participant, distributed monetary compensation, filled out and filed their receipt, and balanced the cash drawer. I also evaluated paper assessments completed by participants and entered the data into an Excel spreadsheet.

During my time with Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department (OCPRD), I provided exceptional customer service, ensured safety of participants and patrons, and performed various administrative tasks. Customer service was paramount during my time with OCPRD. I was responsible for maintaining positive interactions with patrons in person and on the phone. I greeted patrons as they entered the building and gave tours of the facilities in order to promote the parks department. I was also responsible for ensuring the safety of participants and patrons of OCPRD. I frequently patrolled the park by foot, golf-cart, and motor vehicle to ensure compliance with park policy and procedures and look out for patron safety. During supervised youth activities, I managed conflict(s) between visitors, set up necessary equipment, and made decisions regarding inclement weather. Conflict typically involved spectator/referee conflict, coach/referee conflict, and on occasion, youth/referee conflict. I was also responsible for operating the scoreboard during youth sporting events and ensuring all necessary equipment was present and set up before participants arrived. Operating the scoreboard was always performed in conjunction with general supervision. When outdoor activities were scheduled, I was responsible for monitoring the weather, and if the weather appeared too risky, making the decision to call off outdoor activities (e.g., football, soccer, baseball, and softball) for the evening. When activities were not scheduled, I routinely helped with various administrative tasks. I maintained office supply inventory (e.g., making copies of registration forms, filing participant information, etc). I operated the ActiveNet system in order to sell gym memberships, register participants for activities, and assist patrons with facility rentals. I also collected tax forms, paperwork and background check information for referees, coaches and volunteers.
