I am a Barrister at 3 Paper Buildings (3PB), one of the UK’s oldest and fourth largest chambers that provides comprehensive legal advocacy and advisory services to individuals and business organisations. I am passionate about my work, pay meticulous attention to detail and thrive under pressure. I enjoy the people-facing aspect of my role and benefit from native fluency in Mandarin Chinese, proficiency in Cantonese Chinese, cultural proximity and deep-rooted understanding of Chinese jurisdictions. As far as I am aware, I am the first Mainland Chinese professional to be called to Inner Temple.Having achieved a First Class Law Degree from Jilin University, China, in 2007, I relocated to the UK, where I completed an LLM in Competition Law at University College London in 2008, followed by an MPhil Development Studies from Cambridge University in 2009. I remained at Cambridge University over the next four years and achieved a PhD in Financial and Securities Regulation in 2014. During this time, I undertook policy research and reported on regulatory money laundering and insider trading reform at Bryan Cave LLP, as well as securing practical M&A, corporate governance and contract experience at Jingtian & Gongcheng Law Firm in Beijing.Paralegal and mini-pupillage roles followed during my GDL and BPTC study, including lengthy work experience at UK Law, Rustem Guardian LLP and Mishcon de Reya, prior to being called to the Bar in 2016. Since then, I have continued to build upon my legal experience both in chambers and private practice firms, gaining litigation and advocacy experience at LPC Law as well as a one-year paralegal contract at King & Wood Mallesons Europe LLP.I enjoy writing and have published several articles as well as contributing legal material, including the Research Handbook on International Financial Crime. I am always interested in connecting with like-minded professionals who would like to know more about my work.
