His leadership on the YMCA’s Diversity and Inclusion Board further reflects his dedication to promoting equitable access to resources and programs for all young people.In 2022, Zion was appointed Youth Commissioner for Serve Kentucky by Governor Andy Beshear, where he develops resources, implements a comprehensive state service plan, and oversees AmeriCorps grants. Building on this experience, he was appointed in 2023 as a member of the Metro Council District 15 Metro Youth Cabinet, where he plays a critical role in recommending legislative priorities and appropriations to the Metro Council and the Mayor’s Office. In this capacity, he has celebrated legislative appropriation victories in areas such as parks, library services, and nonprofit investments by Metro Government. In 2024, Mayor Greenberg appointed Zion to the Urban Services District Board, further expanding his influence and capacity to advocate for community needs.
