Information Technology Specialist
Current• Follows documented procedures for network and system administrative tasks to ensure networkfunctionality and system performance via monitoring, checks and analysis of trends.• Performs routine maintenance tasks on a regular basis to ensure optimal system performance andmaximize system uptime. Administers post data backup system and safeguards against potentialdata loss through methodical self-tests.• Provides timely and efficient resolution of Post IT-related issues. Documents and escalatesunresolved issues to Tier II support (ISO group) and follows up on a regular basis. Responsible formost hardware and software installations at post.• Provides IT Support to Volunteers in accordance with standard operating procedures includingsupporting required Volunteer IT applications, providing WiFi access to Volunteers, and providinggeneral workstations that include printing and scanning capabilities.• The ITS develops, maintains, and tests the Post IT Contingency plans and provides immediateadvice on disaster recovery plans, ensures physical and logical security of the InformationManagement system, ensures that all network and standalone equipment are configuredaccording to Agency guidelines.• The ITS is responsible for maintaining an awareness of the dynamic field of IT including new trends,applications, and technologies that are relevant to the Peace Corps. The ITS should act as abusiness analyst, translating business needs into IT requirements and reporting thoserequirements to senior staff and ISO as appropriate.• Ensures that post data is organized in an efficient manner, easily accessed and stored in a safe andsecure environment. Maintains and administers data storage databases and applications. Ensuresprivileged data is only available to authorized staff and reports attempted access to prohibiteddata to the appropriate authorities.• The ITS identifies training requirements and ensures staff has the necessary skills to meet Post ITneeds.
