Better Jobs, Better Futures is a new employability project run by Gower College to help the unemployed and underemployed in Swansea into sustainable employment. We also assist local businesses with workforce planning and development and those who are seeking to develop and expand their workforce.This is a fully funded programme so will be offered to any employers who are based in Swansea and the surrounding area. As a Workforce Adviser I will be working with companies in and around Swansea to provide in-depth advice and support to businesses on workforce planning and workforce development issues. I will work with companies on skills utilisation, staff recruitment and retention, job design, succession planning and fair/flexible working practices.We also have an in-house recruitment team and coaches who will be working with the under and unemployed to help them secure sustainable employment. Chwarae Teg is a gender equality charity that is building a Wales where women achieve and prosper and this is being partly achieved via our Agile Nation 2 programme and is funded by the Welsh Government and European Social Fund.I’ve outlined a little about our programmes below:Business ProgrammeOur Business Programme works with SMEs across Wales to provide them a bespoke Equality and Diversity strategy and assistance to deliver it over 12 months.Part 1 - Survey• Establishing a baseline within the organisation through an all staff survey. • In depth analysis of results and identification of areas for improvement.Part 2 – Creating a bespoke Equality and Diversity Strategy• On-going support throughout the process (12 months) • Workshops to improve understanding of equality and diversity • Gender Diversity AwardsCareer Development ProgrammeOur Career Development Programme works with women across Wales providing them with key skills that are valuable to employers through workshops and mentoring. Individuals will also get the opportunity to gain an accredited Leadership and Management qualification (ILM).The programme involves:• Getting to Know You – identifying your goals, barriers, skills, abilities and personal learning styles to create an action plan for your development journey. • Individual advice, support and guidance from our dedicated and experienced team to develop aspirations and achieve goals. • Taking part in training to gain a qualification accredited from the world renowned Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) • Additional bite sized learning opportunities to gain the tailored knowledge, experience and confidence to reach the potential • Opportunities to meet, share and learn from inspirational women in Wales.Agile Nation 2 also provides women who’ve taken part in the programme the opportunity to apply for a number of further benefits:• Training allowance for specific technical training • 1:1 Mentoring Scheme
