Better Jobs, Better Futures is an employability initiative by Gower College Swansea, designed to help students and unemployed or underemployed individuals in Swansea secure sustainable employment. In my role, I assist students in finding part-time work during their studies and guide final-year students towards apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, or entry-level roles. To accomplish this, I collaborate with local, national, and global companies to ensure our students are informed about the full range of career opportunities available to them.I actively engage with local employers by supporting their recruitment needs at the apprenticeship, entry-level, or trainee stages. This includes identifying suitable candidates, arranging interviews, and facilitating job offers. Additionally, I coordinate opportunities for employers of all sizes to interact with relevant student cohorts, offering insights into their careers, application processes, and interview techniques. I also organise our annual college Recruitment Fair and arrange employer participation in student mock interviews. Our students benefit greatly from these interactions, gaining valuable insights into various industries. Those seeking further support can receive personalised advice and guidance on CV preparation, job applications, mock interviews, group assessments, and career options. By providing this support to our students, we ensure that employers receive candidates who are fully prepared for the recruitment process, leading to our students securing the job offers they seek. This fully funded program is available to employers based in Swansea and the surrounding areas. If your company is looking to hire an apprentice or fill an entry-level role, please feel free to message me on LinkedIn—I’d be delighted to discuss how we can work together.
