To me, environmental education is the key to raising a generation of environmental stewards, who will do the research and enact the policies necessary to establishing a more just and sustainable planet. The first step to caring about the environment is knowing about the environment, so I intend to spend my career increasing access to environmental education for all.

Americorps MemberCity Year Denver Oct 2022 - Jun 2023Denver, Colorado, United StatesAs a student success coach in a Denver elementary school, I worked with students of all elementary ages to ensure that they were attending school, participating in class, and learning key social emotional skills that would set them up for success in the future. I primarily worked in second and fourth grade classrooms where I had a focus list of 18 students that worked with me one-on-one, as well as in small groups, to improve their math, literacy, and social emotional learning skills. I led a fourth grade book club for students who speak English as a second language and organized a weekly after school club that prioritized social emotional learning. I also collaborated with my team to organize school-wide activities, community events, and award ceremonies to celebrate our students' success. These students and my team have a special place in my heart and I miss them dearly. -
