Education Assistant - School Of Surgery

Heath Education North West

Manchester, United Kingdom

In my role of Education Assistant in the outstanding School of Surgery, I supported the delivery of personalised educational programmes for our trainees and supported our trainers to deliver these programmes. A major responsibility was planning, coordinating and supporting the ARCP (Annual Review of Competence Progression) process for all trainees. This included setting dates, booking venues, panels and lay people and informing trainees of their ARCP date. I also liaised with trainees to ensure that they were aware of what evidence was required for their review such as that their ISCP portfolio was ready to go. I attended all ARCP panels to take notes and record outcomes before drafting the ARCP outcome notification and objectives for the next period of training to the trainee following the review. The School of Surgery has active regional educational programmes in all specialties. They have a trainee forum/committee that meets twice a year and individual specialty training committees with trainee representatives ,that meet at least twice a year. Part of my responsibility was to support and coordinate the activity of the speciality training committees by setting up meetings, drafting and distributing meetings papers, taking minutes and following up on action point. I enjoyed establishing good relationships with colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons.
