As my second co-op placement through the University of Waterloo, Element Financial served as an excellent opportunity to experience the day-to-day operations of a multi-billion dollar organization from a broad scope. As a Business Process Analyst I was tasked with overseeing various processes throughout the business and finding more efficient ways to execute them. I would then be responsible for drafting project plans for how to effectively coordinate the change in processes and personally oversee the project to completion. Other responsibilities as a member of the Client Experience team included employee engagement initiatives, creating/editing marketing content, preparing and delivering presentations, as well as a variety of other tasks due in part to the nature of the department. As this role was quite diverse, there are a great many skills I learned or enhance at Element such as; Process Analysis, PowerPoint, Project Management, Wed Development, Excel & VBA, and SharePoint.

The first of my co-op experiences through the University of Waterloo, Best Buy was an excellent opportunity to get my feet wet in the world of marketing. In this role I was responsible for the external marketing strategies of a Best Buy Mobile store as well as a full-sized Best Buy store in the Kitchener area. Notable accomplishments at this placement were the establishment and success of social media presence for both stores (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), organizing several events in Fairview Park Mall with attendance above 2,000 guests, and creating cross-promotional opportunities with local businesses. Working at Best Buy developed my Social Media Marketing, Graphic Design, and Event Management skills.

The Source was where I was trained in commission based sales techniques. Using these skills I was able to consistently be awarded the highest sales award in my district of 52 stores several months in a row. I was also responsible for managerial duties such as hiring, training, and terminations. This experience is where I was able to hone my customer service, public speaking, and sales abilities.
