Owner / Editor / Writer
CurrentI’ve been a writer, editor, and researcher for much of my professional life, operating at a high level of discernment while focused on finding the most essential message in any communication. There is little I haven’t either written or edited, from books and feature articles (both long- and short-form) to proposals, white papers, research reports, reviews, instructionals, and press releases. I have particular experience translating complex material (e.g., from scientists) into prose accessible to a wider audience.I’ve run two print magazines and an online journal where, as chief storyteller and brand manager, I shaped their voice while sometimes translating complex and controversial research and ideas for diverse stakeholder groups. I also co-founded a book imprint that published a New York Times bestseller. My primary skill set includes the following:* Developmental and line editing* Manuscript evaluation* Ghost writing / Research* Book proposals* Branding / messaging* Extensive interviewing skills
Research And Branding Consultant
CurrentA new potential is starting to take shape. We are moving from an age of intellect and competition to one of collaboration, authenticity, wisdom, and sustainability. These new ways of engaging the world—and each other—are emerging across all sectors of the business and nonprofit spectrum as progressive thinkers and doers embrace what is essentially a deep, global shift in values and consciousness. My mission is helping individuals and organizations to ride this wave of change using the skills I’ve accumulated in my 20+ years as a leader, communicator, and strategist in a variety of professional capacities. What impact do you want to make in the world? What shape are you trying to bring forth? What needs to emerge? Whether it’s researching a change in direction, crafting a new message, developing new content, or driving a new product, program, or process, I can help. One of my specialties is book development and editing: I've helped a wide range of professionals, including professors, consultants, psychologists, business executives, and health practitioners, translate their wisdom and practices into books. From big-picture manuscript evaluation and developmental editing to line editing and publishing guidance, I bring 10+ years of experience to the art and science of telling stories and building platforms.Another passion of mine is film, especially quality movies designed to broaden and even transform one's perspective. I have recently launched a new website, Cinema Noēsis: Films for Evolving Minds© (www.cinemanoesis.com), dedicated to reviewing new and recent films in a genre loosely described as "transformational."
Launch Co-Director
I was a key member of a small team launching a new social venture nonprofit dedicated to studying the impact of our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs on the onset, progression, and remission of serious disease. My role was to help brand and position the new entity, manage its communications, and build its network of thought leaders and researchers. Initial projects included a book, a global database of cancer remission projects, a documentary film and series, and a clinical study.
Editorial/Communications Director
For nearly eight years I was editorial/communications director at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), part of a team that was seeking to change outdated paradigms in science. I played the role of bridge-builder, translating complex and sometimes controversial research findings and ideas in a way that educated and enriched the broadest possible audience. I was also the branding manager, ran the Institute’s quarterly membership magazine, Shift: At the Frontiers of Consciousness, created its annual Shift Report--reporting on trends in consciousness and social transformation, and launched and co-managed the Institute's book imprint, Noetic Books. I co-managed the redesign of the company's website (www.noetic.org), published the monthly online journal Noetic Now, and was a member of the strategic management team.
