23 Violins

23 Violins was originally formed in 1999. In 2012 we rebranded and relaunched as 23 Violins. From our workshop in Oxfordshire, we deal, repair and restore string instruments. All instruments that leave our workshop are fully tested, and set up to ensure that they are easy and therefore enjoyable to play. At 23 Violins we are particularly keen to support students, music teachers, schools and music hubs in the purchase, maintenance and repair of their instruments. Visit our Schools and Hubs page for more information... Matthew is our Workshop Manager. He takes a particular interest in instrument sound and set up, and enjoys extreme woodworking challenges. Matthew plays the violin. Sarah is our varnish guru! She undertakes the majority of the varnish work in the workshop, as well as instrument set up and repair work. Sarah also does all of the instrument photography for the website. She plays the cello, bass and violin. Ellen focusses on instrument repair and enjoys rescuing violins which require particularly complicated woodwork repairs. She also manages our website. Ellen plays the violin and bassoon.
